A number of folks have asked me about the images I shot during the fashion show at the Outer Banks Wedding Expo held in January.  I only had a few minutes to shoot.  These were the only images I was able to get away with before having to get back to my booth.  There was quite a crowd and it looked very entertaining!

Snow started falling around 9am this morning.  At first it was pretty light but by 10am it was coming down hard.  I walked around Manteo to get these shots.  Thank goodness Poor Richards and the Coffee shop are both open.  Myself and a few locals poured into their to get warm.  At the moment it is 12:19 and the snow is still coming down hard!

My sitting with Alison and Brian was much more comfortable today than the ones this past week.  The temperature was around 50 degrees and the wind wasn’t crazy.  Both were fun to work with since they let me try a few shots I hadn’t done before.  I hope you both had a safe trip back to Cary.  Thanks again!

The Manteo Big Chair Is Back!

Friday, January 9th, 2009

Recently Outer Banks locals and visitors noticed the big chair located next to Magnolia Grille in downtown Manteo was missing. The big chair was a popular feature for folks in the downtown area. Malcolm Fearing commissioned Tom Filkins almost seven years ago to create the chair but recently decided to move it to Wanchese. Magnolia Grille owner and caterer Freddy Ortega had visitors who were upset the chair was no longer there. “We had one family from Boston who takes their picture in the chair every year. They were upset it was no longer here”, said Ortega. So Freddy called up Tom and asked him to make another one. Tom gathered the pieces at his home and assembled the chair yesterday.

Picture above is Tom Filkins assemling the chair plus Magnolia Grille owners Freddy and Pam Ortega along with their daughter Isabella. Anyone interested in contacting Freddy can do so by emailing him at obxcatering@yahoo.com

Here are some of my favorite images taken over the holidays. The final image is Michele’s kitty who graciously wears his elf hat one day a year.
