Ron Mayo hosts a few fish fry dinners a few times a year to benefit Relay For Life. All of the proceeds from the night are given to RFL on behalf of the Hamlet Pride Team. Anyone who has a chance to attend one of these should go. The New Grass Gospel Singers from Bennettsville, SC are mainstays at the cafe and perform there regularly. Band and music teachers from Richmond County Schools will be performing at the Cole Auditorium on Thursday April 26, @ 7pm. Here are some images and audio from their rehearsal today.

Outreach For Jesus – Crucifiction Walk 04-06-07
On Good Friday 04/06/07 members of Outreach For Jesus church in Hamlet, NC held a crucifiction walk. A mock trial was conducted where Jesus (played by Robbie Russell) was held before Pilot (portrayed by Shannon Leviner). Afterwards Russell fell to the ground as a staged whipping ensued with Rocky Norton (as the Roman Guard) dealing lacerations to Jesus. The crowd of church members gathered as Russell/Jesus was given a crown of thorns and a cross to bear. The crowd taunted and teased Jesus as they walked over three miles from downtown Hamlet to their church on Battley Dairy Road.

“We’re going to try to portray to our best image what happened to Jesus as far as him being crucified” said Christie Stone of Outreach For Jesus.
