The Russian Bear Ivan Koloff

I shot this of former professional wrestler Ivan Koloff during Friday night football this weekend. I remember watching him on television when I was a kid. He wrestled with his nephew Nikita Koloff. Their angle was that they were Russian and that they hated America. Koloff was selling his autograph at the game.

The Naked Cowgirl

Louisa Holmlund has performed in Times Square as the Naked Cowgirl for months now. Louisa performs most days from 3pm-6pm and 9pm-11pm. Originally from Portland Oregon, Louisa lived in and out of the country before taking stage in Times Square. Friendly with the Naked Cowboy, she gets little protest from tourists and has only been arrested once after bringing traffic to an extended standstill in Times Square. Although her website is in limbo, she has a MySpace page you can visit here.

Character Study #2 – Ashton

Eight year old Ashton of Hamlet travels nearly 2 hours (one way) to Charlotte, NC four times a week to take gymnastics classes. Her mother Carrie must home school her so that Ashton can adhere to the classes.

I knew I wanted a wall of medicine for my wide shot. I then used the 70-200mm lens for my close-up of one of the products. There are so many selections for drugs now. One can go looking for one particular product and get bombarded with options.

Process 01 – Richmond Senior High Sprinklers

After shooting my character portrait at Richmond Senior High School, the athletic director turned on the sprinklers to the football field. The water was coming at me in sheets, so I focused on the wall of water coming at me. I then shot a wider perspective of the sprinker in action.
